A companion experience centers on conversation with a fictional character. A generator starts with a prompt or input and produces an output such as an image, video or story. These describe workflows, not rigid product categories.

- Is the character clearly identified as AI?

- Can you remove your history and request account deletion?
An AI character can simulate a conversation. It is not a human partner, a therapist or a confidential support service. Set time and spending boundaries before you begin.
Questions for a Creative Tool
- Which input and output formats are supported by your plan?
- How are credits deducted, including failed or repeated attempts?
- Are creations private, public or shared through a community feature?
- What rights apply to uploads and generated output?

Story tools emphasize text, characters and fictional scenarios. Roleplay adds a conversational element. If a service offers both, check whether history, saved stories and publishing controls use the same privacy settings.
Compare the Full Cost
A subscription and a credit balance can cover different things. Check billing frequency, the amount charged today, renewal, extra credits and cancellation. Do not assume “monthly equivalent” means monthly billing.
Consent and Privacy Come First
Use fictional adult characters and content you have permission to use. Do not upload another person’s intimate images or create non-consensual likenesses. Never generate sexual content involving minors or people depicted as minors.
